Since I don't carry the portable dvd player or my laptop with me everywhere, I was thrilled to find out that Signing Time came out with an app for the iPhone!
I love having Signing Time on my iPhone. William has been enjoying it too. This app covers the signs from volumes 1 & 2 of Signing Time, series 1. The images are sharp; the videos are clear. You can choose to view the flash cards. The front shows the image and word for the sign. Tap the card to flip it, and there's a picture of Rachel showing the sign. Need more clarification? In the upper right, you can tap 'watch' to view a video clip of Rachel teaching you the sign.
Searching for a particular sign? On the main menu, tap 'Find a Sign' and all the signs from volumes 1 & 2 are in alphabetical order. Find the sign you want or use the search function, tap the word, and see the photo of Rachel showing the sign, tap for the image; if you need to see the video, tap 'watch' in the upper right corner.
Ready to review? Tap 'Challenge' on the main menu, then decide whether you want to be tested on Volume 1, Volume 2, or both. A photo of Rachel showing a sign comes up, tap to answer and choose from 1 of 4 choices. This is one of William's favorite features.
I really love having the videos on the app. The quality of the videos is fantastic, and the sound excellent. Covered in the music videos are the 'Theme Song', 'Show Me a Sign' & 'The Good'. The ASL videos can be chosen via the alphabetical list or the search function. Once you tap a word, it takes you right to the video of the sign.
So far, this is one of the few apps on my iPhone that I haven't had any glitches with at all. The only downside is that I want more, more, more!
