August 13th~ William's 9th birthday!!!!
Mr. G, William's beloved aide from the past two years, came by with his daughter to help us celebrate William's birthday.
On August 15th, Robert and I ran in the Yankee Candle Company's American Heart Association's 5K. This was Robert's first 5K and how poignant a day it was. August 15th was the day William had his first heart surgery when he was 36 hours old. We ran the entire race side by side and even crossed the finish line hand in hand.
Later that day, I drove my older kids to Maine in hopes of seeing their grandmother (my ex's mom), but sadly, we found out she had died when we were 30 minutes into our trip. We visited with the rest of the family that night and the next day before coming home, then returned for the funeral. She was a wonderful woman and will be very missed.
At the end of the month, Jim and Steph came down to give William his birthday present. I think they enjoyed shopping for this year's present since William has been so heavily into Star Wars.

The kids went back to school at the end of August, but I actually forgot to take back-to-school pictures. Completely slipped my mind for the first week, and after that it just seemed too late to bother.
